Promoting Persistence
WHY IT MATTERS

Babies are born with the ability to engage in tasks and explore. Creating a safe environment with minimal distractions for children to explore helps them persist until they have learned what they wanted to, or acquired mastery in manipulating objects.

Persistence is an important trait which enables children to solve problems, regulate themselves and learn effectively. The successful acquisition of knowledge can only take place when children can persist in challenging activities, or, in other words, when they can enage with tasks and sustain their engagement long enough for learning to occur.
